Maintaining a copper grounding sheet properly helps preserve its conductive qualities over time. Washing should be done gently, ideally with mild or unscented detergent and on a delicate cycle if machine washing. Avoid bleach, optical brighteners, strong fragrances or fabric softeners because these can leave residues that block or degrade copper fibres.
If possible, wash the sheet on its own or with other delicate fabrics to avoid friction with heavy materials that might wear the conductive threads. After washing, it is best to air dry or tumble dry on low heat to prevent heat damage to the copper fibres. Avoid high heat settings or over-drying.
Inspect the sheet regularly for signs of wear. Look out for thinning areas, loose fibres, or discoloration, especially near the grounding cord attachment. If you notice significant damage, conductivity may be compromised, and replacement should be considered.
Finally, always detach the grounding cord before washing to avoid strain or damage to connectors. Store the sheet in a dry, cool place when not in use. With proper care a copper grounding sheet can remain functional and comfortable for many months or years of regular use.
